The struggle of a high school student with no job and saving up every penny of weekly allowance leaves options of things to do in Ontario, Canada very minimal.

This is the exact struggle I was in throughout high school, but I wasn’t going through it alone. My cousin was in the exact same situation. We always tried to make the best out of what we had and always found low budget activities.

One hot summer day in Mississauga, Ontario we ended up at Central Parkway Mall and stumbled across the perfect activity to fit our budget. Cinestarz; was a small movie theatre with five dollar movies EVERY day of the week. It was even cheaper than the Tuesday movie deals they currently have at regular movie theatres. Of course with this price you get a much smaller theatre (usually empty) and half the size of a regular movie screen, but still all the recently released movies. This turned out to be our hidden gem of the summer.

Where do you resort to going out when you don’t have a lot to spend? Are there any “hidden gem” places that you’ve found in the past or still continue to go? Share your experiences in the comments below.
